Thompson’s hit by urine switch
TONY THOMPSON picked up the oddest red card of the season so far – for reacting angrily to a fan who tricked him into drinking urine.
Warrington Town keeper Thompson (inset) squirted the Guiseley fan after taking a swig from a contaminated bottle.
“Today I fell out of love with the game!” Thompson tweeted.
“For me to drink it and then to be told I wasn’t allowed to react because I’m a player is outrageous.”
Guiseley, who won 1-0, have vowed to ban the supporter if he can be identified.
A video on social media showed the fan hopping over the barriers to switch a bottle Thompson had left in his net for a similar one. One keeper who did enjoy his tie, though, was
Hemel Hempstead Town’s Craig King. King headed home a stoppage-time equaliser at King’s Lynn – and then made two saves in the penalty shoot-out that followed which Town won 5-4. He said: “I’m going to keep on talking about it for a long while.”
Wrexham returned to the top of the National League thanks to a 2-0 win at home to
Aldershot, with Paul Mullin and James Jones on target.
Notts County dropped to second following a 0-0 draw at home to Yeovil.
