Ticket scams rocket
A SHARP rise in World Cup ticketing scams has been recorded by a fraud prevention service.
Cifas is seeing fake ticket lotteries offering cash prizes or “hospitality packages” in texts and emails.
The security firm urged football fans to be cautious if they receive unsolicited messages and to never click on any links included in them.
Red flags include slightly misspelled brand names, or basic-looking fonts and colour schemes.
Amber Burridge, head of intelligence for Cifas, said: “Hopeful ticket purchasers for the World Cup are being targeted by fraudsters.”
