Walk is a family affair for ex-Para
A FORMER paratrooper got married and had a baby – while raising £300,000 for charity walking around the UK coastline.
Chris Lewis, 42, started the trek as a “change of pace” for his mental health.
He set off from Swansea in August 2017, met wife Kate when they were both walking in Scotland – and the pair now have sixmonth-old Marcus.
Chris, who is currently in Studland, Dorset, said: “I’d been battling anxiety and depression, I just really wasn’t in a good place.
“I’m an amateur windsurfer and one day I just looked down the coast. I’m not sure why it came into my head, but I thought I’d walk the UK coastline.”
He set off with £10 and two days of rations, trying to live off the land and help from the public.
The family have now also adopted a stray dog, Jet, they met on their way.
Chris – who spent three months alone on an uninhabited Shetland island in lockdown – reckons he will finish in five months.
