Win may stop the recession
WINNING the World Cup would be worth billions to the economy – and may even save the country from a recession.
A successful England team would improve our appeal abroad – fuelling appetite for cars, computers, foods and other goods, say academics.
Study author Dr Marco Mello, of the University of Surrey, said: “If England were to win the World Cup, it may help alleviate the economic crisis for British trade and exporters.”
The findings are based on figures dating back more than six decades.
