SPACE BOFF: E.T. CRASHED IN OZ
Search begins to track down ‘UFO’
THE hunt is on for a “crashed alien spaceship” off the coast of Australia.
Astrophysicist Avi Loeb is convinced a meteor from outside of our solar system that splashed down in 2014 is actually extraterrestrial technology.
And he is now fully funded for a £1.9m mission to retrieve the “UFO” lying at the bottom of the Pacific.
Loeb said: “Our discovery of an interstellar meteor heralds a new research frontier. The fundamental question is whether any interstellar meteor might indicate a composition that is unambiguously artificial in origin.
“Better still, perhaps some technological components would survive the impact.”
The unidentified meteor soared through skies past Papua New Guinea at more than 100,000 miles per hour before hitting Earth near Manus Island, according to Nasa.
US Space Command officials have said that the item, measuring just 1.5ft across, “was indeed an interstellar object”.
Loeb added: “The material is tougher than iron. The question is whether it’s just an unusual rock or perhaps a spacecraft.”
