‘GOAL COST ME SLEEP’

- ■ from CHRIS McKENNA

JUDE BELLINGHAM could not sleep after scoring the greatest goal of his career so far.

The England midfielder netted his first for the Three Lions as he opened the scoring in the 6-2 win over Iran on Monday.

Bellingham, 19, has scored on the Champions League stage before but he admits nothing is better than his first international goal coming at a World Cup.

“I’ve scored quite a few goals this season, in some pretty big games, but that tops anything that I have ever scored,” he told The Lions’ Den England YouTube channel.

“That feeling thinking, ‘Have I really just done that?’ I was thinking this can’t be real.

“It was difficult to sleep, I was up all night trying to reply to messages and speak to people about the game.

“But there is a level of professionalism when it comes to being ready the next day, recovering and just making sure we’re good to go again on Friday.”
