Disabled John bid for space

A DISABLED British athlete has been selected as an astronaut by the European Space Agency.

John McFall will join the space training corps to see if he can become the first disabled person in space.

He is a British Paralympic sprinter who lost his right leg in a motorbike accident age 19.

Joining him are astronomer Rosemary Coogan and scientist Meganne Christian.

Dr Paul Bate, head of the UK Space Agency, said: “I am sure Rosemary, John and Meganne will become heroes for many young people and inspire them to shoot for the stars.”
