DAY MAC HIT THE BUFFERS
Funny remark fell flat on train
COMIC Michael McIntyre tried to amuse a carriage of train passengers but no-one laughed.
The 46-year-old says he doesn’t usually try to be especially funny in his personal life, and when he has, it has backfired.
Speaking to Woman’s Weekly magazine, the fatherof-two recalled failing to raise even a titter on the busy train.
Asked if he felt the need to be amusing at all times, McIntyre said: “No, but I will normally try to raise a smile.
“I was on a train that had lots of copies of the same newspaper on board so I stood up and suggested to the other passengers that I read out loud from my copy to save every other person the bother.
“I thought that might get a laugh – but sadly it didn’t.”
The comic is hoping to become a big star in America because his hit show The Wheel has been remade over there with him as host.
But he’s had to make a few tweaks to the format.
Speaking about the differences with the original version, the funnyman revealed that they’ve introduced a smaller wheel due to US advert breaks.
He said: “It’s a six-person wheel because there are ads.
“I quite like the ads, to be honest – it was quite nice to be able to have a little break.
“I quite like doing that big spiel like Chris Tarrant, setting the game up and giving high drama going into breaks.”
