‘Unsafe’ betting warning

GAMBLERS have warned they will turn to “unsafe” online black market betting if the Government imposes strict limits on what they can stake.

Spending caps would risk driving more people to the unregulated gambling, 67% of punters told a YouGov poll.

Michael Dugher, head of the Betting and Gaming Council, said new laws should be targeted at vulnerable gamblers and should not “push punters who bet safely towards the growing unsafe black market online”.
