Vets pay price

- By Catherine Lamb

PET owners are delaying taking their four-legged friends to the vet due to the cost-of-living crisis.

One in five people are putting off making vet appointments by nearly three weeks, Vetster has revealed.

Lack of funds is cited as the top reason, with over a third of pet owners confessing they feel anxious about avoiding a vet visit.

However, many cases, including dermatological, gastrointestinal and respiratory issues, can be treated remotely.

To help put owners’ minds at ease, Vetster has launched its telehealth service in the UK. It connects pet owners with hundreds of licensed UK veterinarians to address non-urgent pet care issues.

Mark Bordo, CEO and co-founder of the group, said: “By improving access to care, we reduce anxiety for the parent by supporting when clinics are closed or not nearby, to answer any nonurgent questions and to improve health outcomes.”

Vetster provides 24/7 online appointments via video, voice and online chat. Prices range from £40 to £70. To find out more or to book an

appointment, visit vetster.com.
