THE wine we like to drink is influenced by our personality, says a study.
Extroverts prefer more acidic ones, while people who are emotionally stable love downing a full-bodied bottle.
The results were discovered when drinkers were asked if they fell into the categories of “agreeableness, conscientiousness, extroversion, neuroticism, or openness”.
Then they were asked: “Which wines do you like the most?”
Researchers from Verona University and Macerata University in Italy found significant links between personalities and types of wines.
They said the emotionally stable “prefer tannic, persistent, full-bodied wines with a complex bouquet and a high alcohol content and favour wines with less flavour”.
Meanwhile, they discovered that more open-minded people prefer their tipple to have “persistent flavours and high levels of tannins”.
