Old pal phone menace

I’M back in touch with an old friend.

We found each other on social media in September. The problem is that she calls me six times a day. She has no filter.

Recently she rang during an important job interview to find out how it was all going. I could feel my phone buzzing in my pocket. It was awful.

Similarly, she called me during a hospital appointment and halfway through my uncle’s funeral.

I tell her where I’m going and what I’m doing, but she takes no notice, expecting me to pick up and be happy to hear from her. It’s doing my head in.

JANE SAYS: Either this woman doesn’t listen to you or has a huge ego. Calling you during an interview, hospital appointment or funeral is not on.

Why would you want to chat? Why can’t she respect your obligations and wait? Cast your mind back: why did you lose contact with her in the first place?

You cannot allow her to sap your energy. Sadly, if she has no limits then you’ll have to put your foot down and start to back off, otherwise, she’s going to continue to overwhelm and annoy you.
