BRAVE NECO PRAISED FOR PLAYING ON
NECO WILLIAMS has been hailed for his “bravery” having starred for Wales less than 24 hours after his the death of his grandfather.
Nottingham Forest defender Williams, 21, said he managed to get through the game thanks to the support of his team-mates and family as he paid tribute to his grandfather Kelvin Jones. Posting on Instagram after the match, Williams said it was “the toughest news I’ve ever had to face”. He continued: “He’s been everywhere around the world to watch me play football, I know he’s up there watching down on me very proudly.”
Close pal Harry Wilson said his team-mates were determined to support him after starring at left wing-back in the 1-1 draw against the USA.
Wilson said: “He had a lot of emotions.
“Everyone knows how tough it is to lose a family member.
“The lads got around him. But for him to put in the performance he did less than 24 hours after shows what a strong character he is. His grandad will be proud of him.”
