MADDISON MISERY

- ■ from CHRIS McKENNA

JAMES MADDISON looks set to miss England’s clash with USA.

The Leicester playmaker did not train with his team-mates again yesterday as he continues to battle a knee injury.

Maddison missed the Group B opener with Iran after only training once with the team since he arrived here in Qatar.

But he’s still not training fully with Gareth Southgate’s side as the knee injury he arrived with continues to be troublesome.

Maddison (inset) has spent most of his time in Doha training away from the main squad.

England keeper Jordan Pickford confirmed he didn’t work with the team yesterday.

He said: “He was doing a bit of a programme with the physios and sport-science staff.

“His morale is brilliant, he is a great lad Madders and is always full of energy so is good around the place and I think he’ll be looking to train soon.” Pickford also said he believes Harry Maguire deserves more respect. Pickford said: “He needs to be respected a lot more but part of being a footballer is being criticised, as everyone gets criticised in football.”
