HARRY KANE has been given the green light to lead England into their World Cup battle against the USA.

The Three Lions were handed a scare when their captain went to hospital to have scans on his ankle.

He suffered a knock in England’s 6-2 drubbing of Iran in Group B on Monday and came off in the 75th minute.

Kane had light strapping on his foot as he left the stadium and was forced to go to hospital 24 hours later.

The news had left England boss Gareth Southgate sweating on his leader and talisman.

But he was handed a huge boost following the news Kane will be fit to line up against the USA tomorrow in England’s second outing of Qatar 2022.

England can book their place in the

knockout stages with a win over Gregg Berhalter’s men.

Kane, who trained with the rest of the squad at the team’s base yesterday, has netted 52 goals in 76 appearances for the Three Lions.

The 29-year-old is just two goals short of Wayne Rooney’s all-time record for the men’s side and is expected to break it during the tournament.

Team-mate Jordan Pickford said: “I think he is good, a little bit sore but he is fine and has been out with us on the grass.

“He is our captain, he has been good. He is fine, yeah.”

Southgate, meanwhile, is expected to stick with a back four against the USA, provided Harry Maguire recovers from illness in time.

USA footballers will miss out on their Thanksgiving celebrations today.

Thanksgiving is a national holiday in America, with families cooking turkeys and holding big parties.

But the US players will postpone their celebrations for a night.

US keeper Matt Turner, who plays for Arsenal, said: “Mum and Dad are actually here in Qatar, so that will be a bit different for those at home this time around, but I’m looking forward to having it many more times with them.”
