Top cop ‘mad’ staff call
THE Met Police head says it is “completely mad” there are hundreds of officers who “we don’t trust to talk to members of the public” – but can’t be sacked.
Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has been pushing for new powers to allow bosses to reopen misconduct cases.
A report on the Met’s disciplinary systems found the bar too high.
Sir Mark said there are “hundreds who are letting us down and I’m trying to sort it out”.
He added 10% of the Met’s workforce can’t be fully deployed for reasons ranging from medical problems to misconduct investigations.
