A lonely mission for Dec

-

WORLD Cup ace Declan Rice has urged fans to “have a conversation” this winter if they feel lonely.

The West Ham star is fronting a powerful new campaign for a suicide prevention charity.

Entitled “The Invisible Opponent 2”, the one-minute film shows Rice, 23, struggling to tackle invisible opponents for England as a full crowd looks on, until a hand extends to help him from the ground.

Rice said: “Everyone suffers at different times in their life and there’s so many people out there who feel like there isn’t a light at the end of the tunnel – but all it takes is a conversation.”

He added: “It’s about having that support network and having people you can speak to.”

Charity the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) said the advert is about the mental health struggles that people face and the sense of isolation that comes from tackling them alone.

Rice, starring for the Three Lions in his first World Cup, joined CALM as its newest ambassador earlier this month.

FANS will be able to wear Rainbow Wall bucket hats and rainbow flags inside the stadium for Wales v Iran today. It follows their ban at Monday’s game.
