Back to where it belongs

A BEATLES tape has been returned to a library 44 years after it was taken out.

The cassette, which is labelled “John Lennon and Paul McCartney describe the magic of The Beatles” was borrowed in 1978.

It featured an interview with the two band members from Liverpool.

But the unknown Fab Four fan who borrowed the item will not be fined as the library scrapped any penalty charges last year.

It was put in a drop box at Westfall Branch Library in San Antonio, Texas.

A spokesman for the library said: “If you have an item to return that’s a year late, a decade late or four decades late, we will still accept it at no charge.

“Imagine all the potential fines there could have been.”
