Magnier’s plea

- ■ by DAVID YATES

JOHN MAGNIER urged racing’s warring factions to unite in the face of the “tough decisions” that lie ahead for the sport.

The Coolmore boss made the plea in an interview, broadcast at the 25th Peter O’Sullevan Annual Award Lunch in London yesterday, with ITV’s Ed Chamberlin.

“Our people running the sport really have to make some tough decisions and, when they make tough decisions, the rest of us are going to have to row in behind them,” said the 74-year-old, presented with the Peter O’Sullevan Award at the Coolmore Stud by JP McManus.

“There are too many sectional interests pulling in different directions.”
