QUEIROZ QUERIES
IRAN boss Carlos Queiroz was involved in another heated press conference exchange after confronting a BBC journalist yesterday.
Queiroz lost his patience at persistent questioning over the state of politics back in
Iran ahead of today’s game with Wales.
BBC journalist Shaimaa Khalil earlier asked Iran striker
Mehdi Taremi if he had a message for protestors on the street back home but he declined to answer.
It follows uproar across Iran after the death in custody of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman. Amini was arrested in the capital Tehran for allegedly not adhering to Iran’s dress code for women.
But Queiroz – who took a swipe at questioning prior to facing England – took Khalil to task after the press conference to insist that she ask other managers tough questions too. Queiroz said: “Why don’t you ask Southgate these kind of questions?”
