Whistle blown on time

-

FANS could be cheated out of goals when the Premier League resumes after bosses said they would not impose new World Cup injury time rules.

Many fans have welcomed the extra stoppage time after the 90 minutes are up and say it gives them more value for money.

England’s win over Iran lasted 117 minutes, while the average match length for the first four days has been 102 minutes and 42 seconds.

That’s four minutes longer than the Premier League average this season.

The Fifa referees’ chief Pierluigi Collina made it clear officials must add all “unnatural lost time” to the end of each half, which has led to unusually long matches.

But English refs have been shocked at the amount of time being added on.

After seeking clarification from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited over whether they will be asked to do the same, they have been assured they will not be told to follow suit.
