Comes to the crunch

SO that didn’t exactly go to plan.

A day that could have brought glory to both home nations has ended up in major disappointment.

Wales were left heartbroken after two very late goals for Iran.

And England will be disappointed at drawing 0-0 with the USA and hardly creating a chance in the game.

It’s certainly brought us all back down to Earth and there is everything to play for now. And this is where it gets complicated.

Both teams could still qualify.

But Tuesday is now a crunch tie.

A draw will do for England but only a win will be good enough for Wales – and even then they need things to go their way in the other Group B game.

Never before has a match between the two neighbours meant so much. It has all the makings of a classic. We would say let’s both try and enjoy watching our teams in such a vital game on the world stage.

But it’s far more likely we’ll all be biting our nails to the bone!
