VACUUM cleaners are being ditched amid the ongoing cost of living crisis – with thrifty Brits turning to manual carpet sweepers instead.

People are swapping to dustpan and brushes as well as lint removers.

Cleaning firm Bissell report a 175% increase in sales of their manual carpet sweeper.

Social media influencers boast to their fans about how much people can save.

TikTok’s Clean with Jen said: “I am trying to keep my energy bills as low as possible and I have found the perfect solution for keeping my carpets clean without using any electricity.

“Roller brushes on the bottom help to pick up any dust and debris and hair and collects all very handily for you as well.

“It’s amazing how much it actually picks up”.
