£15k to insulate homes
MIDDLEINCOME families could get £15,000 payments to make their homes more energy efficient.
Business Secretary Grant Shapps is set to announce a £1bn “eco plus”, fund to help pay for insulation and radiator controls.
It will help households fund the installation of loft and cavity wall insulation, plus “smart” heating controls such as advanced thermostats and valves.
Ministers are poised to make the cash available to those in council tax bands A to D for the next three years from April.
But households will still be expected to pay around 25% of the cost of any upgrade.
