BLACKMORE HAS DEVILS IN MIND

- ■ by IAN BAKER

CHIPPENHAM chairman Neil Blackmore is still dreaming – even though his side have already ripped up their own history books.

The Bluebirds have made the FA Cup second round for the first time and 500 supporters will travel to Burton tomorrow looking for another upset having knocked out Lincoln in the last round.

But Blackmore (inset) is letting his mind wander towards Manchester United as he supports the Red Devils.

He said: “This game is a massive deal for the club, for the town, for me as chairman of this club – it’s fantastic.

“I would say it’s every chairman’s dream, to see their team go on an FA Cup run.

“The FA Cup is the one thing that gives non-League football clubs the chance for a bit of limelight because you have the opportunity to come up against big clubs – as we have done already.

“We’ve already played Lincoln City and we’ve got another one in Burton Albion on Sunday. We’re about to write a little bit of Chippenham history now because it’s the first time we’ve ever been in the second round.

“When we turn over Burton, Premier League clubs come into it in the next round. From there, it’s the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

“Imagine that – Manchester United v Chippenham Town at Old Trafford in front of 70,000 fans. It’s almost unbelievable.”
