FANS from England and Wales are getting nervy ahead of the World Cup battle of Britain

The Welsh team need to win by four goals to qualify for the knockout stages.

Statisticians gave them just a 2.2% chance of achieving the feat against their neighbours in tomorrow’s desert classic in Qatar.

But Holding Out for a Hero legend Bonnie Tyler believes her Welsh countrymen can pull off a miracle and be among the last 16 teams.

The singer, 71 – whose 1984 single became a worldwide hit – said: “We’ve got to believe in ourselves. We can do it.

“I’m very proud of the Welsh team. Get out there and do it for Wales. I need a hero – come on boys.’’

And worried Three Lions fans feared the match could be a “banana skin”.’

England followed their thrilling 6-2 demolition of Iran with a lacklustre goalless draw against the USA.

That left them top of the group with one match to play – but all four teams could still qualify.

Teacher Adam Molloson, 49, who has jetted from his home in Nottingham with his teen daughter Ellie for the match, said: “This is not a done deal.

“I’m really nervous about it.

“I feel Wales could be a giant banana skin waiting to trip up England.”
