Lack of veg on shelves
SHOPPERS will face shortages of British veg this winter as energy bills rocket, farmers warn.
Homegrown cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes could all be hard to come by as producers take on the cost of running heated greenhouses.
Many blame the supermarkets.
Lee Stiles, of the Lea Valley Growers Association (LVGA), said: “Backing British growers by paying fair prices doesn’t seem to be a priority for supermarkets.
“There will be shortages of British produce next year across the board.”
