ROB’S BLAST AFTER DODDIE MND DEATH

- ■ by LIZ PERKINS

■ ROB Burrow slammed the Government over the delay on MND funding after the death of Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir.

The former Leeds Rhinos Rugby League star, 40, who was also diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019, raised fears even more people would lose their lives before crucial funding was set aside.

■ He tweeted: “I’m sorry to say, how many more warriors die before this stupid government give the 50million they said they would give.

“I’m absolutely gutted to see my friendly giraffe die.

You are the reason for being so positive RIP.” ■ Doddie, capped 61 times for Scotland, died aged 52 on Saturday after being diagnosed with MND in 2016.

The Department of Health and Social Care says it remains committed to spending “at least” £50m on research into MND.
