FLIGHTS BEYOND REACH OF POOR
POORER people will be forced to stop flying because “green” air travel will be too pricey.
Former British Airways boss Willie Walsh, 61, said pressure on the aviation industry from the Government to reach net zero by 2050 will price out travellers with smaller budgets.
Mr Walsh, who now heads the International Air Transport Association, said consumers will have to pay “a huge cost to transition to net zero”.
And he added “some people will not be able to afford what they did”.
He said: “If flying becomes the preserve of the rich, I think that would be terrible.”
