Yin: Act theft is no joke
SIR Billy Connolly has warned would-be standups never to pinch material from other comics.
The Big Yin said there was a thin line between being influenced by someone and copying them.
It comes after James Corden apologised for using a Ricky Gervais joke.
Sir Billy, 80, told the BBC Maestro service: “There’s ‘copying’ and there’s ‘being influenced by,’ and they’re different, but they’re close. Beware.
“Imagine the act you’ve been influenced by was watching your set – would you feel uncomfortable? If so then you’ve probably overstepped the mark.”
