★ NEXT year will see the release of Metallica’s first album in eight years. The band confirmed 12th studio LP, 72 Seasons, will land on April 14 via their own Blackened Recordings.
Singer James Hetfield said: “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are.
★ “The most interesting part of this is the study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bonds.”
Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the 12 tracks clock in at 77 minutes.

She told Dazed magazine: “I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life. I felt beautiful when I had long hair. I definitely felt like a hot girl then, but I always do.
“There’s something so exhilarating about change. It showed me a different side of myself. I feel so new, fresh and sexy.
“I also feel better without make-up: having this bare head and so little make-up is a fun experience. It’s new, and I love it.”
