Brexit nut sues Govt.. in EU court
ARCH Brexiteer Owen Paterson has admitted it is ironic that he is taking the UK Government to the European Court of Human Rights.
The disgraced former MP, 66, is taking legal action in Strasbourg over a standards watchdog verdict that he broke lobbying rules.
In a new statement, the Eurosceptic’s lawyers said: “The irony that Mr Paterson, a vocal opponent of European institutions, should be seeking the help of the ECHR is not lost. But he has no other choice.”
Standards committee chief Chris Bryant said he was treated “fairly”. Paterson quit from parliament last year after he was found to have abused his role while working for two firms.
