MOTHERLAND is set to return this Christmas.
A festive special of the hit comedy has been filmed.
Anna Maxwell Martin has reprised her role as miserable Julia for the episode.
As always, she’ll be battling the pitfalls of parenthood.
An insider said: “The episode sees Julia end up having a full house at Christmas with the kids, the grandparents and friends all under one roof.”
Other returning stars include Paul Ready as Kevin, Diane Morgan as Liz, Tanya Moodie as Meg, Lucy Punch as Amanda and Philippa Dunne as Anne.
Also returning is telly favourite Joanna Lumley as Amanda’s mum Felicity and the show has been given a big boost by Beeb chiefs — it’s moving from BBC Two to its flagship channel BBC One.
It is proof bosses think the show is one of the corporation’s best comedies. A show insider said: “Motherland has had the seal of approval from the top execs.
“It’s getting a plum slot in the Christmas schedule and it’ll be on BBC One.
“It’s a sign the show has a bright future and is likely to return for another series.”
