Durrant not done
GLEN DURRANT announced he is stepping off the professional darts hamster wheel – then insisted he has not retired.
After losing his Tour card on the Professional Darts Corporation circuit, Durrant, 52, seemed to be waving goodbye when he tweeted: “Well that’s it – I’m no longer a professional dart player.
“Part relief, part incredible disappointment. Thank you... for loyalty in the highs and lows. New chapter in my life starts today.”
But he later clarified: “I’ve not retired, just no longer a pro player – 2023 is a year of new adventures and finding that winning feeling again.”
Peter Wright opens the defence of his PDC World Championship title against Mickey Mansell or Ben Robb, while world No.1 Gerwyn Price could face Vladyslav Omelchenko if he gets past Luke Woodhouse.
