Passenger to take flight in the Dante

- TAKE Sir Michael Stoute’s ■ by JASON HEAVEY

PASSENGER (3.35, nap) to fly home in a wide-open Group Two Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes at York this afternoon.

Stoute has won the race a record seven times, the last of which was 12 months ago with Desert Storm, who went on to win the Derby.

And the veteran handler has Passenger earmarked for Epsom after a scintillating three-length success in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket last month. He is only going to improve further.

ILLUSIONIST (1.50, nb) was a surprise course-and-distance winner at this meeting last year. The six-year-old put in a solid display 19 days ago on his first outing for 10 months to finish a running-on third at Ripon and will trim fitter today.

FREE WIND (2.25) is the class of the field in the Group Two Musidora Stakes. Thady and John Gosden’s mare hasn’t been seen since winning the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock last July, but she will be ready to run a big race.

Stoute could score a double with

ASSESSMENT (3.00) in the Sky Bet Hambleton Handicap. The four-yearold won well at Kempton last month after nearly a year’s absence and will take all the beating.

CHANGEOFMIND (4.10, treble) is an exciting sprinting prospect for Declan Carroll. The son of Sioux Nation broke the track record at Chester on his juvenile debut in June last year and he blitzed a Catterick novice field on his first run since then 22 days ago.

At Salisbury William Haggas’ RELIEF RALLY (2.10) just gets the nod in the Highclere Castle Gin Fillies’ Conditions Stakes after a comfortable winning debut at Windsor last month.
