AFC WIMBLEDON 1 MORECAMBE 1

LEE BROWN says his makeshift centre-back pairing with Wimbledon team-mate Kofi Balmer is beginning to gel.

Brown said: “I think we’re defending really well as a unit and their goal did come against the run of play.

“We’re one point off the play-offs going into the business end of the season, so we’ve got to keep it really positive, and we know we’ve got the capabilities to go on a run.

“Let’s see what happens.”

CRAWLEY 2 FOREST GREEN 0

SCOTT LINDSEY says wing-back Jeremy Kelly can have a huge impact on Crawley’s run in.

Reds boss Lindsey said: “He will be massive for us, he’s been brilliant for us since he has come in.

“He’s been very good on the ball, very smooth on the ball and he runs hard, he’s an athlete.

“I feel he’s going to be a big part of what we do moving forward.”

Rovers boss Steve Cotterill said: “I thought we looked tired.”

NEWPORT 1 GILLINGHAM 0

WILL EVANS scored his 19th league goal of the season – and is desperate to hit the 20-goal mark as quickly as possible.

The Newport striker said: “It would be nice to get there. I’ve been given the role of penalties, so I’ll be happy if we get one in the next game.

“I just keep going and if it helps the team, then that’s all that matters.”

Gills boss Stephen Clemence said: “I thought it had nil-nil written all over it. But we are going to have to be up for the fight.”

TRANMERE 4 STOCKPORT 0

BRAD WALKER says Tranmere’s crushing victory over the league leaders underlined the potential of Nigel Adkins’ side.

The Rovers midfielder said: “It was a brilliant performance. We needed to provide a response after losing to Morecambe.

“The league table says they are the best team in the division and we more than matched them.

“It shows the confidence we have in what we have been doing.”

BRADFORD 1 SUTTON 0

SAM STUBBS has his sights set on Wembley ahead of Bradford’s EFL Trophy semi-final with Wycombe on Wednesday.

The Bantams defender said: “That is why you play football – the reward of Wembley.

“This club has an affiliation with Wembley, so we would like to go back there.

“We could not have had a better run up to Wednesday. We will rest and recover and we will go again.”

CREWE 0 HARROGATE 0

SIMON WEAVER says Harrogate showed the ideal response to the nine-goal midweek humiliation at the hands of Mansfield.

The Sulphurites boss said: “It was about getting back on the horse.

“We are a gritty team and a good group of individuals who were champing at the bit to play straight away. Everybody stood up strong, we defended well and we put in a great performance.”

Alex boss Lee Bell said: “Second half, I thought we were excellent.”

SALFORD 5 BARROW 3

ELLIOT WATT has turned provider once again following the arrival of boss Karl Robinson at Salford.

The Ammies midfielder said: “I’ve not quite hit the assists that I hit last season, which has been quite frustrating for me.

“But I think that’s four or five since the gaffer’s come in and I feel like I’m starting to find my level from last season.

“And thankfully we’ve got boys putting them away.”

WALSALL 2 MANSFIELD 1

MAT SADLER was full of praise for Walsall midfield trio Isaac Hutchinson, Jack Earing and Brandon Comley.

The Saddlers boss said: “We’re very lucky to have the midfielders we have.

“Jack, he’s a powerful boy and he really drove us up the pitch.

“Isaac is still influencing the game even when he’s not scoring and that’s all underpinned by Coms in that engine room.”

Jamille Matt and Emmanuel Adegboyega got the home side’s goals.

COLCHESTER 1 ACCRINGTON 1

CONNOR O’BRIEN admits it took the 46th-minute dismissal of Brad Hills to spark Accrington into life.

The Stanley defender said: “To get a draw with 10 men, we have to be happy with a point. I think it’s the mentality, maybe we were lethargic with 11.

“Then when we went down to 10 we thought we were going to have to lift it if we were going to get anything from the game.”

Colchester boss Danny Cowley said: “Once they went down to 10 we played with too much fear.”

GRIMSBY 1 DONCASTER 5

LUKE MOLYNEUX says Doncaster’s four-game unbeaten run has given Gavin McCann’s side a major lift.

The Rovers winger said: “For now, it’s taken the pressure off and it’s all about looking up. We can play with a lot more freedom and the only way is up at the moment.

“Everyone on the pitch, including the lads that came off the bench, were amazing and I feel like we’ve been like that for the last few weeks.”

SWINDON 1 MK DONS 2

STEPHEN WEARNE admits he was gutted to miss out on the match-ball after scoring twice in the opening eight minutes.

The Milton Keynes forward said: “It was obviously a pleasing start.

“I’d have liked to get the hat-trick but it is what it is and hopefully more will come.

“I can play in a number or positions but I haven’t really played No.9. I didn’t find out until the morning.”

Charlie Austin got a late goal for Town to make it a tight finish.

WREXHAM 1 NOTTS COUNTY 0

EOGHAN O’CONNELL says he is not surprised by the impact Steven Fletcher is having at Wrexham.

Defender O’Connell said: “He’s a brilliant player. I knew a few lads who knew him and when he signed I was buzzing.

“He shows every week how good he is and that’s three games in a week. For an old fella, that’s some achievement.”

County boss Stuart Maynard said: “I think their goalie ends up man of the match.”
