SAY COL-BYE

Garry will spank Yank into retirement

- UFC with GARY HITCHCOCK

IAN MACHADO GARRY has promised to silence MMA’s biggest motormouth once and for all as part of a massive Ireland vs America supershow.

The undefeated Dubliner made it 14-0 at UFC 298 when he outpointed fellow welterweight Geoff Neal in Anaheim, California.

‘The Future’ believes his own now involves a grudge match with Colby Covington and while Donald Trump superfan Covington wants to Make America Great Again, Garry is determined to make him eat his words.

Having made vile digs about Leon Edwards’ late father last December before losing to the champion, ‘Chaos’ also made derogatory comments about Garry’s wife Layla.

Now the 26-year-old, who has racked up seven straight wins in the UFC, wants Covington as part of Conor McGregor’s return to the octagon, which has been pencilled in tentatively for June in Las Vegas.

Garry said: “I want Colby Covington next. The biggest star in the sport is coming back in Conor McGregor to fight Michael Chandler and I think we can put me and Colby in the co-main.

“Let’s do Ireland vs America. Let’s bring the show back. Let’s get the talk done, let’s make it big and noisy. I will smash Colby Covington with every ounce of power that I have. Colby’s biggest claim to fame is that he has fought for three world titles and he has lost all three.

“I promise you I will finish that fight and I will rid the UFC of Colby Covington once and for all. He is gone, I am sick of his nonsense. He is a piece of s***.

“Let him write his script, let him do his panto, let him do his act. Let him do everything. I am going to get to punch him in the face.

“He can talk about me, my family, my wife, my kid, anything he wants.

“He gets a pass because he is going to sign that (fight) contract and as long as he is a man and shows up, I am going to punch the mouth off him, hit him so hard he is never able to speak again.”

Despite his low-rent act, No.5-ranked Covington, who turns 36 on Thursday, has his supporters and Garry received a hostile reception for his fight against Texan Neal.

However, the Irishman’s only concern is getting his hand raised, with Garry set to break into the top 10 of the rankings following his latest victory.

He added: “I am living the dream and there is no one who can wipe that smile off my face. There is still nobody in the world that can take that ‘0’ off me and I am going to keep proving that.

“Whether the fans love me or hate me, cheer or boo, if my hand gets raised, I am still going to become a world champion, whether they like it or not.”
