Louis got us back on track

We’re Snut afraid now

THE Snuts are feeling refreshed – praising Louis Tomlinson for helping them find their feet again.

Despite two hit albums, the Scots were at a low ebb when they supported Louis on his arena tour, but have bounced back with colourful new record Millennials.

Singer Jack Cochrane told me: “We’d done some huge things before supporting Louis, but we needed a kick in being confident.

“We’d go out at shows hoping people would like us, rather than making sure they liked it. Watching Louis, his show is very confident and the fans gave that back.”

Louis, right, is known for championing guitar talent, but his crowds were different from The Snuts’ fans.

Jack raved: “Playing to his audiences was a challenge. It did well for us and we became more confident.

“Louis is a quiet guy and the tour was civilised, but he’s a much bigger rock star than me, as he can go way harder than I can.”

The tour with Louis helped signpost that The Snuts are frustrated with being labelled as indie, despite the diverse sound on their new album.

Jack sighed: “When you see four guys with guitars, you’re automatically put into your lane.

“You get squashed together with other artists who you don’t feel you sound anything like, and who you don’t necessarily feel have the same values.

“We’ve got a more modern, fresh approach and we’ve never been scared of going into pop.”

Millennials is the first release on The Snuts’ own record label, Happy Artist. It follows them quitting their deal with major label Parlophone. Jack revealed: “Starting our own label felt effortless. With the careers we had before the band, we all knew what hard work was.

“We wanted to put the hard work in to continue to call the shots.

“We want to have an infrastructure at our label so artists can be treated fairly, both financially and emotionally.”
