CAMBRIDGE 0 PETERBOROUGH 1

DARREN FERGUSON admitted Posh needed a slice of luck to record a first derby away win in the league since 1988.

Ephron Mason-Clark’s cross from the left evaded everyone in the box to find the far corner of the U’s net.

Manager Ferguson said: “We were a bit fortunate with the goal. It’s a good ball into the box but it was meant for someone.

“It’s the first time Peterborough have won here in over 30 years, which tells you how hard it is.”

BRISTOL ROVERS 2 CARLISLE 1

KAMIL CONTEH was pleased to help Rovers to a comeback victory at Brunton Park.

Veteran duo Chris Martin and Scott Sinclair overturned Josh Vela’s opener for the rockbottom Cumbrians.

Pirates midfielder Conteh, a January signing from Grimsby, said: “The belief to come back was a testament to our character as a team.

“We need to keep that going, but start games better.”

EXETER 1 FLEETWOOD 1

RYAN WOODS believes Exeter created enough chances to beat struggling Fleetwood.

Vince Harper tapped in his first Grecians goal but Promise Omochere slotted home a second-half leveller for the visitors.

Exeter midfielder Woods said: “We absolutely dominated the game but we’ve got to be more clinical in the final third.

“We have had probably six or seven chances from the right-hand side to cut the ball back into good areas.”

PORT VALE 0 LINCOLN 2

REECO HACKETT reckons Lincoln have found a ruthless streak after condemning Vale to extra time in the drop zone.

Hackett’s stoppagetime penalty, won by Dylan Duffy, secured a win set up by Joe Taylor’s early opener for the visitors.

The Imps winger said: “Earlier in the season we struggled in these types of games but now we’ve come a long way as a team and are a lot better in these situations.”

BARNSLEY 2 DERBY 1

ADAM PHILLIPS was delighted to settle this battle of the promotion rivals in Barnsley’s favour.

The Tykes midfielder cancelled out Sonny Bradley’s Rams opener with a superb chest and volley and then headed home the winner in the 66th minute.

Phillips said: “I’m absolutely delighted. It’s another two goals for myself, I’m personally happy with that. But the main thing is to get three points.”

BURTON 0 NORTHAMPTON 2

LOUIE MOULDEN was hailed for his part in a rare Cobblers shut-out.

Marc Leonard and Mitch Pinnock both scored from range, while keeper Moulden, on loan from Wolves, kept Burton quiet at the other end.

Town manager Jon Brady said: “It’s brilliant for Louie to get a clean sheet.

“He’s a good young goalkeeper growing in confidence and he looked very assured. We haven’t had a clean sheet for a while and I’m really pleased for the whole team.”

OXFORD 1 LEYTON ORIENT 2

TYLER GOODRHAM is confident this setback will not derail Oxford’s promotion push.

The midfielder fired the U’s ahead but replies from Ollie O’Neill and George Moncur capped an O’s fightback.

Oxford still occupy a play-off slot and Goodrham (right) said: “We know the fans deserved better and it is up to us to go about it the right way.

“But there are 11 games left – why not go on a run?”

READING 2 SHREWSBURY 3

JORDAN SHIPLEY was as surprised as anyone by Shrewsbury’s lightning-fast start.

Shipley’s volley and a Tom Bayliss strike put them 2-0 up after just five minutes.

Reading replied through Sam Smith and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, however, and it needed Tom Bloxham’s goal in first-half stoppage time to win it.

Midfielder Shipley said: “We were all a bit like ‘2-0 in five minutes, what’s going on?’ But the boys did really well.”

BLACKPOOL 4 BOLTON 1

KYLE JOSEPH reckons Blackpool have proved they are play-off contenders.

Pool followed up last week’s win at Peterborough by hammering 10-man Bolton, who saw Ricardo Santos sent off for fouling sub Joseph in the box.

He said: “We showed resilience last weekend to come from behind to win and we’ve done it again.”

Jake Beesley netted the penalty to add to his earlier goal, with Marvin Ekpiteta and Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel also on target. George Thomason opened the scoring for Bolton.

CHARLTON 0 PORTSMOUTH 0

JOE RAFFERTY has promised to pay more attention to Portsmouth’s promotion bid.

The defender helped stop Charlton scoring but wasn’t aware that the point had increased Pompey’s lead at the top as Derby and Bolton both lost.

He said: “I know people say, ‘Don’t pay any attention to the table’ but I genuinely don’t. I probably will start now it’s getting to this point. Sometimes my missus tells me teams have lost – it does my head in!”

STEVENAGE 1 WYCOMBE 0

CARL PIERGIANNI insists there is no shame in a Boro victory that was aided by good fortune.

The centre-back scored against the run of play, while Wycombe were up against it when keeper Max Stryjek saw red after the break for bringing down Jordan Roberts.

Piergianni said: “Maybe a bit of luck has gone our way and it was not our best performance by a long shot but we have played a lot better and lost so we were due one.”
