Double act Molly and Paddy’s TV takeover

- With GARY HITCHCOCK

ANT and Dec, Richard and Judy, Mel and Sue, Rod Hull and Emu, Mike and Bernie Winters… I am afraid your collective time is up as TV’s top duos, for Molly and Paddy are here to take over.

As well as drawing huge ratings in the octagon, Liverpool’s Molly McCann and Paddy Pimblett are to become reality stars on a new BBC Three show to be aired later this year.

MMA fans have long seen the close friendship the pair have had since meeting at the Next Generation gym in their home city, before rising up to reach and star in the UFC together.

Now their lives in and outside the cage will be documented to a wider audience on ‘Paddy & Molly: Show No Mersey,’ with McCann believing viewers will either “love” them or “hate” them even more.

However, you can guarantee there will be no Phil and Holly split in the future for the Merseyside duo as they fully support each other in their attempts to climb the UFC rankings.

And McCann, 33, is looking forward to pulling back the curtain on her life a little, saying: “It is being filmed from December until the end of February. But I am not sure about the release date as it will need a few months to edit.

“Definitely before the next time me and Patrick fight it will be out there and it will really show people what we actually do.

“I have got two businesses and a fiancee and I am a professional athlete. I also do a lot for charity and Patrick is exactly the same.

“He has a couple of businesses and he is non-stop as well with the ‘Baddy Foundation’ and the other stuff he does for mental health.

“It is all stuff we don’t shout about from the rafters, because you don’t do that kind of work for the gratification or recognition.

“People who watch the show might get to see us in a different light. You will either hate us more or you might fall in love with us. But either way you will be watching.”

McCann’s highs and lows are sure to be well documented on the show, with ‘Meatball’ nearly walking away from the octagon after a troubling loss at flyweight to Julija Stoliarenko in London last summer.

McCann, who bounced back with a big win on her strawweight debut against Diana Belbita earlier this month, revealed: “The gloves were off (after losing to Stoliarenko). I was done. It was the deepest, darkest, most horriblest place I have been to in my life, aside from my dad’s passing.

“But we are forged in fire and I am just here to show that I will give my life in the pursuit of greatness.”
