RAYE is more concerned with winning Mario Kart than the seven BRIT Awards she’s up for.

The obsessed gamer, who picked up Songwriter Of The Year ahead of Saturday’s event, is so obsessed with gaming that she has invited fans to play with her.

Raye spilled: “I love it so much I have a Discord chat related to Mario Kart. I went on TikTok a month ago playing Mario Kart and went, ‘Everyone take my code.’ I mean I have hundreds of friends.

“I’m like, ‘Right guys, what speed, what rules shall we do, normal items? Great, four races 400cc great see you there.’ I’m obsessed.”

It’s not just Mario that the Secrets singer loves connecting with fans on, she shares everything.

The Londoner explained: “I’m on Discord every day, I love it on there. It feels so safe, if anyone’s rude – block, out, gone. It’s a safe and lovely place. I was feeling a little insecure the other day so I messaged the guys, to talk to people who love my music.”

Raye’s music is a huge hit on TikTok but it’s all a happy accident: “You can’t force it or plan and I think you can’t create music specifically for that platform because I don’t even think that’s what TikTok wants.” When she was signed to a major label Raye had advisers telling what she should do on and offline the whole time to try to become successful. Ironically, since going it alone, she’s smashed records all over the world: “The beauty in being independent now is I’m really the only one putting pressure on myself and that’s the big change. Also nothing that has happened for me has been predicted or planned at all.

“My expectations were literally so low, I just want to build a small fanbase.”
