HE CAN BAE A SAVIOUR FOR THE POTTERS

- BY NEIL GOULDING

JOSH LAURENT believes young gun Bae Jun-Ho can be the man to fire Stoke to safety.

After going 27 games without a goal in England, the 20-year-old has scored in back-to-back games.

The South Korean (top) opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before Lewis Baker wrapped up a precious three points in their relegation fight.

It was a second win in 10 for the strugglers, who remain in the drop zone on goal difference.

And proud midfielder Laurent said: “Bae’s a little magician. Everyone can see that. He’s some player, he’s some kid and he’s the type of player who can drag us out of this.

“He’s quiet as you can imagine, he’s still learning the language. He’s always smiley, always happy and gives his all.”

Steven Schumacher’s

Potters dug deep to clinch a welcome win, and Laurent believes the realisation they are in a dogfight will help save the club’s Championship status.

He added: “I’m proud of everyone involved. Everyone was together and that’s what it’s going to take.

“It’s one game down and we need to keep that going for the rest of the season.

“We wanted it more than the other team and we have to keep doing that for the next 11 games.”

Michael Carrick’s Boro have won just once in seven games. He said: “It was a bit of a wrestling match.

“We need to chase games better when we’re behind. We have to find a better way of doing that.

“We showed fight out there, I don’t doubt the lads on that. The fight isn’t an issue at all.

“It’s just moments of quality and giving ourselves a better chance with our decision making.”
