BOLTON 2 CAMBRIDGE 0
AARON COLLINS admitted his relief after scoring his first Bolton goal since his January transfer window move from Bristol Rovers.
The striker said: “It felt good to finally get my first goal. Obviously I want to be out there scoring and assisting but the main thing is that we win.
“Coming in as a striker that’s what you are meant to do, you are meant to score goals. I want to take this form and into Tuesday at Barnsley.”
George Thomason was also on target for Bolton.
DERBY COUNTY 3 PORT VALE 0
SONNY BRADLEY believes it is a five-way battle for the League One automatic promotion spots.
The Rams defender said: “I think between the five teams, there isn’t much in it. It’s probably about who can put a run together now.
“I’m not sure how many games we need to win, it may be eight or nine – who knows? But we’ll put as many points on the board as we can.” Veteran Dwight Gayle scored his first Derby goal in between two Louie Sibley strikes.
LINCOLN CITY 0 STEVENAGE 0
JACK MOYLAN insists there is no reason why 10th-placed Lincoln can’t keep their 10-game unbeaten run going.
The Imps midfielder, who made his first start for the club, said: “It’s not a bad point against Stevenage, they’re going for promotion so we go again next week against Barnsley.
“Barnsley are right up there, and they’re doing well, but we’re 10 unbeaten so why can’t we go the rest of the way?
“We want to keep this run going.”
PORTSMOUTH 2 OXFORD UNITED 1
CHRISTIAN SAYDEE couldn’t wait to get home to his family after netting his first league goal since joining Portsmouth last summer.
The former Shrewsbury midfielder, who struck a 67th-minute winner, said: “You get highs and lows in football, but it’s moments like that which make you want to keep playing well.
“I’ve finally got one and I can go home to my parents and we can talk all about it, so I’m happy for that.”
CARLISLE UNITED 1 READING 3
HARVEY KNIBBS believes Reading are on course to remain clear of the drop zone during the run-in.
The two-goal Royals playmaker said: “It’s been a tough year, there’s no hiding from that with what’s been going on off the field.
“We’ve got an unbelievable group of lads in that dressing room, with the way we’ve been able to stick together. It’s a great collective effort, we know we’ve got 10 games to keep this momentum up.”
FLEETWOOD TOWN 4 WIGAN ATHLETIC 2
BOSUN LAWAL says boss Charlie Adams has made his presence felt since taking charge at Fleetwood.
Cods midfielder Lawal said: “He’s brilliant. In training he helps the midfielders like myself. He tells us what to do in different scenarios.
“Sometimes it doesn’t always have to be pretty. Sometimes you just have to do what needs to be done.”
Lawal scored twice as Fleetwood hit back from 2-1 down to take the points in a huge boost to their survival hopes.
NORTHAMPTON 1 CHARLTON 1
MACAULEY GILLESPHEY says new boss Nathan Jones has boosted the self-belief in the Charlton dressing room.
The Addicks defender said: “The manager has a certain style of play and the lads have bought into it. Confidence is high.
“We’ve got some good players here. With some self-belief from the lads we can kick on.”
Karoy Anderson’s early Charlton goal was cancelled out by a late Louis Appere equaliser.
SHREWSBURY 0 BLACKPOOL 2
GEORGE BYERS believes he is finding his feet at Blackpool following his deadline day loan move from Sheffield Wednesday.
The midfielder said: “I feel settled now, I’m getting back into my rhythm of playing every week.
“I’m feeling really fit and hopefully I can continue playing regularly. I strive for that consistency and want to keep showing people I’m a good player and I want to win for this club.”
Karamoko Dembele and Hayden Coulson were on target for the visitors.
CHELTENHAM 0 BURTON ALBION 0
MARTIN PATERSON admits Joe Hugill has boosted his chances of forcing his way into the Burton starting line-up.
The 20-year-old centreforward brought some life into an otherwise uninspired relegation battle. And Brewers boss Paterson said: “I thought he was good when he came on again and that’s the last two performances where he’s been good, so that’s food for thought.
“He’s got an argument that he should be playing more and I agree with him.”
LEYTON ORIENT 0 BRISTOL ROVERS 1
CHRIS MARTIN claimed Rovers showed they know how to grind out a win after holding on for a hardfought three points.
The Gas striker said: “Wins always feel nice when you are up against it. The manager and fans were probably having kittens in the second half when they were heavily on top.
“But it brought out the other side of our game, making blocks and tackles, and that’s what won us the game.”
PETERBOROUGH 2 EXETER CITY 1
DARREN FERGUSON admits his Peterborough side must learn to put games out of reach.
The Posh boss said: “We’re struggling to kill teams off. We’re only winning by one goal and that’s been going on for quite a while now.
“When we do manage to get that two-goal lead, I think we’ll probably go on and get more.”
Kwame Poku hit the winner after Ephron Mason-Clark’e opener was cancelled out by Exeter’s Tom Carroll.
WYCOMBE 2 BARNSLEY 4
JORDAN WILLIAMS says Barnsley are showing they have the mindset to come out on top in the promotion race.
The Tykes wing-back said: “I think when we showed a bit of quality we hurt them.
“We dug deep to come from behind twice.
“That shows the mentality in the squad is second to none and that keeps improving throughout the season. We need to keep grinding wins.”
