LEAGUE TWO

-

WIMBLEDON 1 MK DONS 0

JOSH NEUFVILLE says Wimbledon’s players were left in no doubt about the importance of Saturday’s clash with arch-rivals Milton Keynes Dons.

The winger said: “That was a very different game to play in. I’ve played in a fair few games and nothing compares to that in terms of atmosphere and what it meant to the club.

“When you sign for the club, you are told this is the most important game – that it’s a must-win game.

“It showed out there what it meant to the lads.”

NEWPORT 0 MANSFIELD 1

GEORGE MARIS says Mansfield are ready to battle it out to hold on to the League Two top spot.

The Stags midfielder said: “We’ve shown qualities that we can grind results out away from home. We’re not always going to win by three or four so these are the wins that you need to pick up going into the last stages of the season.

“We just have to keep grinding results out, keep picking the points up and see where it can take us.”

TRANMERE 1 SUTTON 0

LUKE McGEE admits it was vital Tranmere got back to winning ways after back-toback defeats.

The Rovers keeper said: “It was an important win especially after the last couple of results not going our way.

“We had some momentum a couple of months ago and the longer you go without a win, you get the feeling that pressure creeps in more and more.

“So that was a massive win. Anyone can beat anyone in this league.”

CREWE 2 MORECAMBE 3

JOE ADAMS says Morecambe must stop the slow starts after being forced to come back from two down.

The midfielder said: “We spoke before the game about not conceding early and I don’t know what it is but we have to stop conceding early.

“Thankfully I scored my first goal. Bit of a scrappy one but they all count.

“We keep coming back and we were clinical in the second half. Crewe are up there for a reason.”

SALFORD 0 GILLINGHAM 2

KARL ROBINSON admits his first home defeat as Salford boss confirmed there is no quick fix to his side’s problems.

The Ammies boss said: “The reflection of where we’re at is clear and very evident, we’ve been alright but that’s not good enough, we want to be successful and there’s certain aspects of our game where we know we want to be better.

“It’s our responsibility to do that over the forthcoming weeks, months and the start of the next season.”

WALSALL 3 DONCASTER 1

MAT SADLER says Walsall are only going to get better after making it five wins on the bounce.

The Saddlers boss said: “What we have now is that real trust with each other of how good we know we are. That takes time.

“I knew there would be a little period of refining after Freddie Draper left.

“It’s taken a bit of time with Josh Gordon and Mo Faal too, but we’re reaping the reward now. We know what each other’s game is and that’s really powerful.”

GRIMSBY 1 FOREST GREEN 0

HARVEY RODGERS was in no doubt the result was all that mattered as Grimsby moved six points clear of the relegation places.

The Mariners defender, who scored the only goal of the game early in the first half, said: “It was a big game for both teams.

“I think it was a win-atall-costs game. Obviously it was nervy towards the end, but we held on.

“So it’s a pleasing win. We weren’t great on the ball today but that didn’t really matter so long as we got the three points.”

SWINDON 1 HARROGATE 1

CHARLIE AUSTIN says Swindon have pressed the self-destruct button too often this season.

The veteran striker said: “We didn’t do enough to deserve three points but we didn’t deserve to lose the game.

“We play steady stuff at times and create certain opportunities but we shoot ourselves in the foot.

“My goal takes me to 199 career goals and for me I want to continue to help the club. But as a team we are not there.”

WREXHAM 4 ACCRINGTON 0

WREXHAM manager Phil Parkinson hailed Paul Mullin after his hat-trick cost rival boss John Coleman his job.

Promotion hero Mullin overshadowed leading scorer Elliot Lee, who netted the fourth in the 41st minute, and Parkinson said: “Mulls was brilliant today. He was back to his sharpest.”

Coleman’s second spell at Accrington came to an end yesterday when the long-serving manager was sacked along with assistant Jimmy Bell.
