READY FOR ENDO GAME

Reds are fit ...and firing

- by CHRIS McKENNA

LIVERPOOL midfielder Wataru Endo has warned the Reds’ title rivals that their injured stars are returning just at the right time.

Jurgen Klopp’s squad has suffered setbacks in recent weeks which saw the Kop boss turn to the club’s youth stars to keep them in pursuit of a quadruple.

Jayden Danns, Bobby Clark, James McConnell and Lewis Koumas have helped plug the gaps and carry them to wins over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final and Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round.

But the Kop stars will need their big guns firing for the run-in and star striker Mo Salah looks poised to step up after two substitute appearances following a hamstring complaint.

Darwin Nunez is also back fully fit and firing while Dominik Szoboszlai is over his hamstring problem.

Ibrahima Konate did miss the draw with Manchester City but has a chance to face Manchester United this weekend in the FA Cup.

Endo said: “These younger players produced an amazing performance. Now the injured players are coming back, little by little, so I think that we are in a good way right now.”

Liverpool still have Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota absent on a longer-term basis. But they have now got more depth after the draw with City saw them slip behind Arsenal in the title race on goal difference.

Endo and Alexis Mac Allister were two stand-out performers in Sunday’s stunning clash at Anfield with the latter scoring the equaliser from the spot and both shining in midfield.

The Japan international said of his Argentinian sidekick: “He’s incredible. We always try to help each other, especially when we have the ball. I have a very good feeling with him.”

The final Premier League showdown between Klopp and Pep Guardiola ended in the spoils being shared

“At the end of the season, this one point might be important,” said Endo.

“That’s what we want to say. So, we need to keep playing like this and just try to win every game.”
