I Baser songs on pals’ woes..

CAITY’S LYRICS ARE PROBLEM THERAPY

-

POP sensation Caity Baser is happy to take the blame for her friends’ problems – if they let her sing about them.

Caity returns with debut mixtape Still Learning today and admits some songs are based on the misfortunes of those closest to her.

She told me: “A friend will call me, saying, ‘You’ll never guess what’s happened, I don’t know how I’m going to get over it.’

“I’ll immediately tell them, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll put it in a song.’

“I’ll pretend it’s about me, as I’m very, ‘I’ll take the brunt of it, girl, you sit there and deal with it’ with my friends.”

One of Caity’s own embarrassing traits is that she can’t stop impersonating other singers.

Caity confessed: “Whenever I meet someone famous, I have an awful trait where I can’t stop singing their songs to them.

“I love Katy Perry and, if I met her, I’d probably sing California Gurls at her.

“Then I’d say, ‘I love you, let’s go get our nails done, then can I come to your house and borrow your clothes from the California Gurls video, please, please?’”

That quirky attitude has typified Caity’s previous music, but Still Learning shows her more vulnerable side.

Caity explained: “Making music is like a therapy session. “When I go out and do silly things, I know it’ll make a great story for a song. Nine times out of 10, other people tell me, ‘Me too!’

“Still Learning is about telling everyone I’m fine, when sometimes I’m really upset.”

Caity – who tours from March 21 before performing at Isle Of Wight and Latitude festivals – says she wants to be making music forever. She added: “The way I write will never change.

“I’ll always be honest and I’ll always have a laugh with songwriting. “When I’m older, maybe my music will be about more mature instruments and I’ll start making jazz with violins.”
