The Dropout 10.40pm, BBC One

In 2014, Elizabeth Holmes was hailed as the USA’s youngest female self-made billionaire. As the founder of the company Theranos, she was seemingly on a mission to revolutionise the healthcare industry, promising quick and easy blood tests that could be carried out using little more than a drop.

But when it emerged that the technology didn’t actually work, her fall from grace would be as dramatic as her rise to success. Mean Girls and Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried takes on the role of Holmes in this eight-part drama, which was previously available to stream on Disney+.

The stranger-than-fiction story starts as Elizabeth drops out of a prestigious college to pursue her dreams, but it isn’t long before she’s making ethically dubious decisions.
