Carrie Fisher: A Life In Ten Pictures 9pm, BBC Two
When you think of Carrie Fisher, what image springs to mind? Probably one of the actress playing Princess Leia, either with her hair styled into bagel-buns in Star Wars or wearing a gold bikini in Return Of The Jedi.
While she will always be known for her role as the heroine in a galaxy far, far away, Fisher, who died in December 2016, was much more than that. Her remarkable life is the subject of this programme, which follows the star’s life from her childhood in California, through to her film debut in Shampoo in 1975, her big break in George Lucas’ space saga, and appearances in other movies and TV shows. However, for some, Fisher’s life will be most celebrated not for her acting, but for her witty accounts of life in the celebrity fishbowl of Hollywood and her personal struggles.
Twisted Metal Paramount+
Based on the iconic PlayStation game series, this 10-part action comedy follows a motor-mouthed outsider (Anthony Mackie) who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Stephanie Beatriz and Joe Seanoa also star, while Will Arnett voices the hulking killer Sweet Tooth.
The Apprentice 9pm, BBC One
Lord Sugar continues to whittle down the candidates, this time challenging them to brand an electric vehicle and create an advertising campaign before pitching to a panel of experts. Karren Brady and Tim Campbell watch on as one of the sides drives their advert into comic chaos, and the other receives a red light for their poor location and boring storyline.
The Devil Wears Prada 6.50pm, Film4
Taking inspiration from Lauren Weisberger’s memoir, this glossy fashion industry satire stars Meryl Streep (stealing every scene she appears in) as Miranda Priestly, the tyrannical editor of Runway magazine. When Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a naive but intelligent aspiring journalist, gets a job working as an assistant for Priestly, her boss makes her life a living hell.
