SENIOR MOMENT FOR MR TONDERFUL

-

CASTLEFORD’S Innes Senior marked his ton with a two-try blast and revealed he’s never felt more confident.

The rangy winger scored twice in his 100th career game to help Cas get past Championship side Batley and make tonight’s Challenge Cup quarter-final draw.

Senior, 23, joined the Tigers on a season-long loan from Super League rivals Huddersfield.

He has scored five tries in his last four games ahead of Thursday’s battle with Leeds.

Senior (inset), an Ireland international, said: “I just want to be playing every week and that was my main reason for coming here.

“I’m feeling confident in my game.

“I’ve never felt better on the pitch and I’m ready to rip in for the rest of the year now.”

Castleford had lost all five Super League matches this season so were delighted to get off the mark in Saturday’s 28-14 cup success.

They were held 14-14 at the break but scored 14 unanswered points in the second half down Mount Pleasant’s famous slope.

In Saturday’s other games, Huddersfield eased into the last eight with a 50-4 thrashing of hapless Hull FC.

Winger Adam Swift scored four tries against the club he left last autumn and fellow wideman Sam Halsall grabbed a treble.

The defeat heaps huge pressure on Hull boss Tony Smith, with his side having won just once in six games so far ahead of a daunting Good Friday trip to Hull KR. Umyla Hanley got a treble as holders Leigh beat Championship opponents Featherstone 26-14.

And England’s Matty Ashton also scored a hat-trick as Warrington swept past winless London 42-0 and into the last eight.
