Title glory Hoves into view for Klopp’s battlers

- by MARK PEARSON

THE title race is back with a bang after the international break with Liverpool hoping to lay down a marker in the first of the Super Sunday clashes as they welcome Brighton to Anfield.

Although fans probably didn’t want the hiatus at this stage of the season, it may have done Liverpool a favour after throwing away a place in the FA Cup semi-finals following 120 epic minutes at Old Trafford a fortnight ago.

Injuries continue to be an issue for Jurgen Klopp (right), with this game too soon for Trent AlexanderArnold and Alisson, while Andy Robertson was hurt on Scotland duty on Tuesday.

Brighton have injury woes of their own, with winger Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March and Joao Pedro unlikely to be available, and their form has dipped lately.

They did end a four-game winless run with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, while their win over Roma by the same scoreline still saw them dumped out of the Europa League.

Liverpool have dropped only six points at Anfield all season, a trio of draws against their fellow title rivals and Manchester United, and boast an incredible record that has seen just a solitary Premier League home defeat in three years.

Liverpool are 4-11 to claim the win, while a draw at 9-2 will also see Liverpool regain top spot, but possibly only briefly. A Brighton success is 6-1.

But a Liverpool win to nil at 7-4 looks the play.

Heading into this pivotal Sunday and with the teams separated by a solitary point, Manchester City are 11-10 to retain their crown, Liverpool 15-8 and Arsenal the outsiders at 5-2.
